Request for Proposal for the Contracting of Independent Auditor to Conduct Sampling and Data Validation

(CI-Guyana) with support from the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) is collaborating to execute a project titled “GGDMA Responsible Mining Project”. The project aim is to reduce the use of mercury in mining by encourage the adoption of improved mining practices.

Government And GGDMA Join Forces To Test Improved Recovery System For Increasing Efficiency And Productivity In The Mining Sector
/in Press&News /by Administrative UserThe Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners Association (GGDMA) continues to explore technologies to increase mineral recovery while reducing mercury use for local small and medium scale miners. To this effect the GGDMA and the Ministry of Natural Resources have signed an agreement for the acquisition of mineral processing technology that can increase recovery and ultimately reduce the use of mercury. The “Riven Mineral Recovery System “will be pilot tested for the next 12 months in Guyana’s mining sector. This project is part of the GGDMA’s commitment to exploring and finding effective and feasible technology solutions to improve recovery and effectiveness which will ultimately lead to a reduction of the use of mercury in Small and Medium Scale (SMS) mining operations.

Gold and Diamond mining continues to be one of the main economic driver of development in Guyana and safe, reliable and efficient passenger and cargo services are critical to the success of mining operations.
The GGDMA, therefore wishes to call upon the service providers to make a concerted effort to further improve their overall service. We call upon truck operators and trucking services to stop overloading their trucks. This is critical especially in the rainy season.

GGDMA Calls On All Miners To Adopt Good Occupation Health And Safety Practices

The manner and frequency of such deaths warrant a closer examination of the practices of our small and medium-scale miners in general. The GGDMA is reiterating its appeal to the general mining community to adhere to and implement good safety practices.
